Maree is currently a PhD candidate, researching quality of life for adults with a corpus callosum disorder (CCD). Maree is a full time Carer for her daughter with a disability. She has enjoyed a long career in primary education, teaching in Gippsland rural schools, playing many sports and running a small beef farm.

After unsuccessfully navigating health and disability support systems for decades, Maree wanted to study the system from within. She recently completed a Master of Public Health and Melbourne University, inspiring her to continue exploring the impacts of CCDs on the lives of adults.

Maree is secretary of the national support group, Australian Disorders of the Corpus Callosum (AusDoCC) which she cofounded with a group of other frustrated parents in 2012 and is inaugural chair of the international CCD liaison group, The Bridge. For the past decade AusDoCC has reached hundreds of families connected by a CCD, who were isolated before its formation. Maree also travels to international family and scientific conferences when funds, time and Covid allow.

In her spare time, she tries to keep up with the chewing habits of two mini foxies, maintaining a veggie garden, travel and renovating her living spaces.
